Making a list..checking it twice..

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I have SO much to do to get ready for my Trip to Australia. I’m going to be gone a couple of months, and that takes some planning.
I SUCK at planning.
So I decided I’d better make a bunch of lists. a packing list…a list of contacts,a list of reservations and airline tickets, a list of [...]

One Bag… or so

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I really wanted to pack light for this trip.
So me, being me, I researched it on the net. I found the definitive source and that is onebag.com
This is the kind of guy who could travel around the world with a single bag! How wonderful would that be? No lost luggage, no waiting, mobility..so many advantages [...]

A Person is What They Pack

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

You know, you can tell an awful lot about a person by seeing what they pack on a trip.
Me? First thing I packed was my gadget bag…a formidable backpack, with all my electronic necessities..and all the power cords and chargers and stuff that goes with them. The sign of a true geekette.
Golf bag? I have [...]

At Least a Garmin Fits in your Pocket

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I told you about my new Garmin Navigation system system, and how slick it is.
But no matter how fancy, there is nothing like a old fashioned paper map to see the “big picture”

I spent some time with “Sheila” and the Garmin today..she is still patient, and still puts up with my penchant to mess with her waypoints ;-)
I was fooling around with the settings ( geekette, remember?) I turned on the Spanish man’s voice, who was probably saying turn right on whatever street…but it sounded like he [...]

Getting to Know My Garmin

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

This little thing rocks.
Talk about mapping capabilities, all wrapped up in a sleek package.
Voice prompts,Speaks street names, Auto sort multiple destinations, Auto re-route (fast off-route and detour recalculation..thank you Sheila!) Choice of route setup (faster time, shorter distance, off road), Route avoidance (avoid highways, tolls etc.)..it even has pedestrian mode for when I’m walking around [...]

A New Road-Tripping Tech Toy

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Oh, ya baby, I am a gadget gal!
Throw some tech at me, show me a new toy, and I’m all over it. I even read the manuals.
Yup, a confirmed geekette. And damned proud of it.
Now, I know that there are low tech ways of doing things, and they often have their own joys about them.
Take [...]

A Magical Mystery Tour

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I am going on a trip…It’s magical, because it came upon me rather unexpectedly. It’s a mystery, because I am not exactly sure where I am going. South, mostly. East-ish too. I’ll probably have to go West occasionally,( as one does have to make the occasional left hand turn) and double back North once or [...]
