The Masters 2009 and Dirty Balls

Monday, April 13th, 2009

So, I spent the last few days watching the Masters Tournament…and cleaning my balls.
Wait…that sounds SO wrong ;-)
I Googled “how to clean your golf balls”…and the results were…amusing.
From regular soap and water…to denture tablets, to using the washing machine ( and softening your jeans at the same time), to bleach, to WD-40..the suggestions were numerous.
The [...]

Of Hairy Turtles and Virginity Lost

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Now that I wrote the title, i think I got some explaining to do!
Settling in with some Don Julio here ;-)
On my Mexico trip, I explored much,,,uhm..virgin territory. Some of it, I’ll even tell you about ;-)
I wrote in an earlier post about my learning to snorkel while I was in Mexico…virgin territory indeed. [...]

Exploring New Worlds

Monday, April 13th, 2009

I did much exploring of “new frontiers” ;-) on my recent trip….and one of those frontiers was the underwater universe.
I cannot believe that it took me 50 years to try this..I have now found another thing to give me excuses to go to warm places. ;-)
I had to overcome some pretty huge fears to learn [...]

A Manta Moment

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I was blessed to see a manta ray as I was returning from the reef at turtle bay. I watched in fascination as this beautiful creature swam towards me, and gracefully glided and landed in the sand right below me.
I stopped swimming, and just floated above it…marveling at this beautiful , graceful creature.
And then…a [...]

Persistent Pandemonium

Friday, March 27th, 2009

I think everyone can relate. At least on some level.
You’ve lost something. You’ve misplaced some item. You look, and you look, but damn…you just can’t find them anywhere. And admit it, you go a little nuts. Go a a little anxious, a little OCD…
Your search becomes more and more desperate, as you start [...]

I Love the Fresh Smell in the Morning…

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I told you about how I was going down to Phoenix to mix some business with pleasure. In this case..the two are indistinguishable ;-)
Things have been going at a pretty good clip here since I arrived. Lots of golf ( which has been good, no complaints there) but I have been very busy setting up [...]

Apparently, I have an Accent.

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

My accent
Apparently I have one. I never knew. ;-)
I find it ironic….anywhere I go in the States, I hear a huge variety of “American accents” I hear voices from all over the place…Southern, Midwestern, Eastern….but to Americans, that is an American accent.
Here’s a sentence that really gave me a away.
Hey, I am on a root [...]

When I say Detour…I mean Detour

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I Guess I have some Explainin’ To do.
My roadtrip turned out to be about a lot of things….but it sure as hell wasn’t about planning about planning…
Let me illustrate
This was my original plan

I thought it was a pretty good plan
But, I kept taking U turns, and opportunities kept cropping up..unexpected sidetrips…decisions made to turn left [...]

Roadtrippin as a Kid

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I’ve been doing it since I was a child. The call of the open road, the wind in your hair..new places, new vistas, new people places.

My Dad lived 2400 miles from his home. And we drove there. Every year. It takes 48 hours of hard straight through driving to travel 2400 miles….and when you [...]

Life in the Fast Lane

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Two days. 12 hours a day 80 miles per hour. Not a good way to see the country
Life in the fast lane.
But, as with all things, there is much good to be extracted. I got to spend two days with my friend Mavis. There is nothing like 12 hours of captivity to get to [...]
